Hey, Friend!
Great news! That Self-Same Metal has been nominated for two literary awards! TWO! The first was the Lambda Literary Award for Outstanding LGBTQ+ Young Adult and the second is The Ignyte Award for Outstanding Novel: Young Adult!
I’ll tell you now that I didn’t win the Lammy (the nickname for the Lambda Awards) but I had a blast at the ceremony in New York. The Ignyte Awards finalists just got announced on Monday and YOU can help TSSM become a winner.
Vote for That Self-Same Metal in the 2024 Ignyte Awards
The Ignyte Awards have an open voting system, meaning anyone can cast a ballot by filling out their easy Google Form. I’d love it if y’all cast a vote for That Self-Same Metal and the other incredible books, stories, and creatives who made the finalists list (including my sister-in-law Malka Older and her novella The Mimicking of Known Successes)
You may also remember that The Forge & Fracture Saga trilogy started as a short story called “Mayhem on the Thames” that was rejected by Fiyah Lit Mag, the organization that hosts The Ignyte Awards. Being here now feels like a total full-circle moment.
In the meantime, I’m editing FFS Book 3 right now so expect to complete the trilogy and get the end of Joan’s adventures into your hands next year. My US publisher is working on the cover for Bk 3. My UK publisher is working on their version of the cover for Saint-Seducing Gold which is out in paperback across the pond on 1 January.
You’ll see both first—along with getting the title of Bk 3—as a thank you for rocking with me in your inbox! Stay cool & don’t forget to vote for That Self-Same Metal!
Love,
Brittany
Thank you, Harvey! 💜
I'm so behind on Substack but congratulations on all! Just voted!
